A word from MEV, LLC’s Owner on the phrase “Maui Strong”:
Across the country, many communities that survive natural and artificial disasters have used the famous phrase “Community Name STRONG.” I believe the inference here signifies a strong community’s dedication to recovering from a great disaster.
Any disaster that includes the community’s associated grief of human life and property losses empowers the survivors and community to strive towards recovery and renewed strength.
Maui Strong embraces our residents with hope for a rapid response and recovery within our island community’s disaster zones.
When I think of Maui, it’s people, plants, and wildlife, and our recent wildfire disasters, I am reminded of my favorite phrase used by my Granddaughter, Ohia, from Disney’s Mulan, “The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.”
I think of Lahaina-Nui as that flower. Maui Strong.
Malama Environmental, MEV, by its definition, is here to protect. In 1994, this owner came here to perform environmental consulting services on and for Maui. We expanded to perform limited Statewide services, but Maui is our home. As you may read, our website demonstrates a significant expansion of services from our humble beginnings.
Regarding the Maui Wildfire disaster cleanups, we are available to assist with projects that are under the management of FEMA and MEMA, as well as requests in the private sector for adjacent properties and downwind fire zones.
Malama staff and field workers are acutely aware of the hallowed ground where the discovery of family artifacts or even the possibility that human remains may be encountered during any debris cleanup. If commissioned to perform on-site activities, we will perform our work with reverence and notify authorities where and when required.
